Available Position - June 2026

We are currently searching for a new team member for an immediate start.
Read about the position below!
Would you enjoy being paid to have fun?  Do you like making amazing memories for kids?  Are you passionate about seeing kids excited and full of joy?

If you answered yes to any of these, then we would love to hear from you!  We are currently seeking a fun, outgoing, dedicated and responsible person to work with us hosting kids disco events.

THE WORK:
Once fully trained, you will be responsible for safely transporting the sound equipment, travelling to a disco event before it begins and setting up the equipment for use.  ALL REQUIRED EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED FOR YOU.

Throughout the disco, you will operate the sound and lighting equipment to provide disco entertainment to the kids attending, and at times run interactive games, challenges and other engaging activities for the kids.

At the conclusion, you will safely pack down the equipment used and transport it back.  All of this will be done independently and unsupervised once you have completed supervised training.

REQUIREMENTS:
Essential:
- Working With Children Checks (or ability to obtain).
- A fun, bubbly and outgoing personality with a passion for entertainment or working with children.
- Flexibility to work weekends.
- Positive and responsible attitude towards safety and care of others.
- Own reliable vehicle to transport yourself and equipment.
- Secure space at home or similar to store equipment.
- Own ABN (or ability to obtain.  Free to register).

Desirable but not essential:
- Experience working with children.
- Good knowledge of popular mainstream music.
- Own laptop computer and happy for DJ software/music to be installed.
- Flexibility to work weekends and occasionally during the week particularly during peak times such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween etc.

AMOUNT OF WORK AND PAY RATES:
This work is of a casual flexible nature.  You will always be given lots of notice for booking requests and have the right to turn down a booking if you already have another commitment planned for that time.  On average, you will be offered and expected to run one booking per week and will have more bookings potentially available if you want more work.  The average of one booking per week is spread out over time, meaning that one week you may not have any functions, the next week you may be offered two or three.

You must be available to work weekends, and ideally occasionally during the week with plenty of notice.  You may also be called on and asked if you are able to work at additional events in peak times such as Christmas, Easter and Halloween.

Each function will pay you a minimum of $200 per event which usually runs for a 2hr period.  If an event runs for longer, you will receive $70 per hour afterwards (or $35 per half-hour).  This includes the travel to events, setup/packdown of equipment and the disco itself.

Payments are made to you on a contractor basis through your own ABN meaning your travel and other related expenses are tax deductable.

WHO IT MAY SUIT:
Examples of people this work may be highly suitable for:

University Students - The events you will run always have advance notice so you can plan accordingly to work around your studies.  In addition, those studying teaching or childcare may pickup highly valuable group management skills, experience and entertainment or brain-break ideas that you can utilise in your future career.

Stay at home parents - You may not have the capacity to work a full-time job Mon-Fri during working hours, but would love some child related work once or twice a week that are outside of usual working hours.  This may suit your circumstances particularly with the advance notice you get with all work so you can plan accordingly.

Side-hustle seekers - People working a side hustle outside of normal working hours and their normal jobs to gain additional income is becoming more popular.  This is a great chance to do some fun, enjoyable and rewarding work that pays well along with regular employment as most functions take place outside of regular working hours.

DJ's looking for additional gigs - If you are an experienced DJ and even have regular late night Fri/Sat club gigs, you may be looking for extra work in the same industry but earlier in the day.  This could give you some great gigs to work at during the day or early evening.  Be aware though, that this work is more of a kids entertainer than typical DJ.  Engagement skills with your audience is of a much higher importance that of your technical DJ skills so be prepared for a different kind of disco than you may be used to.

CONSIDERATIONS:
Equipment - You will be provided with all sound and lighting equipment for events (including a laptop computer if needed).  This equipment remains the property of the company and can't be used for any other purpose aside from our functions without explicit permission.  You will be responsible for the transport, use, storage and care of this equipment.

Other entertainment opportunities - Initially you will be strictly running kids discos, but if you are a good fit in the company and are interested in learning new skills, future opportunities also exist to run other entertainment events/services such as Music Bingo nights, Karaoke and Photobooths.

Reliability and punctuality - We do try to provide lots of flexibility, and if you have prior commitments you can certainly deny a booking request at the time of offer.  BUT, if you accept a booking offer, there is an expectation of reliability and commitment to that booking.  Short of an emergency circumstance or illness, you will be relied upon to provide entertainment services to clients at the booking.  Simply changing your mind close to the event date is not acceptable.

HOW TO APPLY:
Simply click one of the contact buttons on the bottom of this page to send us either an email or social media message to express your interest.  Tell us a little about yourself and why you think you will enjoy this work.

We will then invite you to attend one of our discos so you can observe the type of work you will be doing and have a better understanding of whether the work is right for you, we can also answer any questions you have during these times.

If the work is the right fit for you, we can begin to train you by having you attend events with us to learn about the equipment setup and operations of the disco.  You will be paid a training rate of $50 per hour, then will receive full pay once you are ready to run your own events independently.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU!
